For something like the rollers and the PVC piping that will go over the galvanized pipe, galvanized piping of a size that will fit within electrical PVC piping is required. Every roller on the kayak launch requires two U-shaped brackets.

●    Creating the Kayak Launch Framework

The first step is to cut the wood to the proper ramp length. You would not want to cut the last and then realize you don’t even have a sufficiently long piece of wood! Then, cut the two long sections to mark the end of the launch.

The second step is to cut the remaining 2×4 into various pieces, which will serve as lateral support between the two long side sections. The length of these lateral parts should be the same and slightly more significant than the width of your kayak.

One side brace will go at the top of a launch, one at the bottom, and the rest would be placed about a foot away between two points.

After laying out the wood structure on a flat surface, place the lateral parts in place. Before fastening the remaining lateral pieces in place, attach the top and bottom side pieces to the two long sections to produce a solid, box-like structure.

Drill a hole outside the side pieces at the specific places for each lateral pillar to connect the lateral pieces. Put the strut in position and secure it with a screw-driven in on the outside of the structure.

●    Construct the Kayak Launch Rollers

The galvanized pipe, which will serve as the rollers’ base, must be cut to a specified length with the outside width of the framework you’ve just built.

The length of the PVC pipe that goes over each galvanized pipe must equal the inside width of the launching framework.

It allows the PVC pipe to rotate freely on the galvanized pipe without restriction from the framework, and also, the galvanized pipe’s excess length can be employed to lock the roller in place.

The amount of rollers you’ll need is determined by the launch ramp’s length and the kayak’s weight. If the customized rollers are placed too far apart, excessive pressure will be applied to a single area on the kayak hull, potentially cracking it.

We put a roller every 0.65 feet or 20cm for the launch construction. It spread the weight of the kayak and the kayaker over the rollers equally, preventing excessive pressure on one area of the kayak hull.

For each PVC sleeve, attach the galvanized pipe. Connect each end of the galvanized pipe to the top of the sidewalls of the structure with U-brackets.

Check that every one of the PVC rollers on the galvanized pipe spins freely. If your dimensions were off, you might need to clip a little off the tips of some of the PVC pipes.

To lock the eyebolts in place on a slanted entry, attach them to the upper end of the launch.
